Chiemsee Fashion Story

THE EARLY YEARS when Martin and Cristof Imdahl discovered the first windsurfers on lake Chiemsee in 1976, they enthusiastically set about the task of teaching themselves to windsurf and soon founded a windsurfing school. Because their customers not only wanted to surf, but were also interested in beachwear, they transformed their garage into what was known as the "Surfhütterl", a shop selling hand-printed T-shirts and surfing accessories. In 1982 Martin officially founded “Windsurfing Chiemsee”. At this stage, Chiemsee was still a project. It was driven by a generous measure of personal motivation, while financial considerations played a secondary role. And this is how we got where we are today...
